2016 LSGS Conference

Looking back at our inaugural gathering of learning sciences graduate students and faculty

The first LSGS Conference was hosted by the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) on Thursday, October 20, and Friday, October 21, 2016.

UIC's Learning Sciences Research Institute (LSRI) sponsored the event.

Learning sciences graduate students from UIC (Brian Slattery and Melanie Snow), Indiana University (Chris Georgen and Anna Keune), Northwestern University (Kit Martin and Sarah White), Vanderbilt University (Amanda Bell and Jennifer Kahn), and the University of Wisconsin—Madison (Catherine Dornfeld and Joe Michaelis) organized the event. The conference included poster presentations, roundtables, and workshops led by graduate students.

In preparation for the conference, the planning committee considered fifty-one proposals for posters, roundtables, and workshops from ten schools that addressed forty-three topics. Read more about the 2016 submission statistics here.

The schedule also included talks and panels featuring faculty from conference partner institutions.
